Try to beat Paypal official guide ah?
  • Mater · 1 year ago
Hey Guys, i need some help or tips from you. I've just tried to link my al-rajhi debit card in paypal but failed, all i got was 'We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. If the problem persists, please try to enter a different credit card'. I've done everything, including contacted their customer service and also al-rajhi's too (to check my details registered with al-rajhi - just in case i missed anything important), and the same remark still arise. Anything that i should know, guys?
  • reedz · 1 year ago
    Hi there!
Thanks for the great tips. I have just signed up the alrajhi debit card at KJ branch and took me 30 mins to complete the process. Thanks again!
  • Ayman · 1 year ago
Hi guys. I created an al-rajhi debit card but I faced the same problem as Mater (comment on July 17). After calling the al rajhi customer support, they said something along the lines that their card can be used to withdraw money from PayPal, but it can not be used as a primary card to confirm the account. So this means that we can use it, but we need to set up another primary card. This sucks big time, because I have no other cards and I created this one especially for PayPal.

You can use MasterCard if you have one to confirm your account and make it primary.
  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
Hey Ayman, thanks for the tip-off!

I never had the problem because I already activated one of my credit card before adding my Al-Rajhi ATM Debit card into the same PayPal account.
  • raintrader · 1 year ago
    hi guys,

i had the same problem, they couldnt rectify my al-rajhi debit card. pls correct me if im wrong, say if i enter an alternative card say my mastercard only for verification but later if i want to transfer money out paypal, i can setup a secondary card (my al-rajhi card)?
  • samsing · 1 year ago
    Hi guys,

i also face the same problem like Mater...i already register a credit card as primary card.but when i want to register my second card (Al-Rajhi debit card), it prompt me the message like ‘We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. If the problem persists, please try to enter a different credit card’...what happen to my debit card..?can anyone help me..thanks here.
  • bok · 1 year ago
    Hi,

This is exactly what i am looking for. Thanks.

BTW, i am setting up a website to sell online. To accept paypal i need a currency to convert my MYR price to USD price; anyone got any guide how to setup a reasonable way to calculate the exchange rate??? I am concerning about the actual amount my customer been charged in MYR after they received their statement, as well as the actual fund i receive when i withdraw from paypal to my visa card.

    Thanks.
  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
Bok: I think one of the way you can work around the currency conversion issue is to use USD in your transactions.

This way, you only need to take into account the currency exchange rate when you are withdrawing from your PayPal account.
  • yoyo · 1 year ago
so in this case, transfer money from debit card into paypal can be done as well?
  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
Yoyo: Yeah, just be sure that you maintain the minimal amount as stipulated by the Bank's requirement. Normally it's as little as RM 10.00 (for my case- Al Rajhi ATM Debit Card).
  • yoyo · 1 year ago
what can i do ..if the debit card is not verified?
i only have a debit card from Al Rajhi Bank...
does that mean tat i cant do any transaction in paypal?
  • Suresh · 1 year ago
Thank you .... very informative and useful
  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
    yoyo:
I would suggest that you apply for a credit card and add that to your PayPal's list of cards. Right now, I have one credit card as the primary card and the Al-Rajhi ATM Debit Card as the secondary card.

    Suresh:No problem mate!
  • hwang · 1 year ago
hey anybody had problem about the delay to transfer fund to credit card. I did one transaction on 16th September and the paypal status shows "completed" on 17th September transfer to my credit card. But until today I still haven't seen the money appear in my cc account. I'm using UOB visa credit card.

I did one transaction before on August using the same card and the money appear in about 8 days. This time around it is taking more than 2 weeks and still yet to see the money appear. I beginning to worry.

I also noticed this time withdrawal, the money is straight converted to MYR before transferring to cc account. Anybody noticed this? Could it be one of the reason for the delay?
  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
    Hwang,

I happen to read about similar issues on Malcom's blog.

Yes, I think you just need to be a little more patience. Let's wait for the day when PayPal finally lifts their ban on Malaysia users. I think they are just waiting for enough Malaysia users to sign up with PayPal.
  • Yuki Choe · 1 year ago
I had done everything in accordance to what is mentioned here. But to my surprise, I found out that my monthly withdrawal limit is set by default to $0.00! Can somebody help me?
  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
Yuki, which card are you using?

If you are using Al-Rajhi, you need to refer back to the branch that issued you the card. I believe all Al-Rajhi ATM Debit cards has a USD500.00 withdrawal limit imposed.
  • Yuki Choe · 1 year ago
I am using Al-Rajhi. I done everything according to the steps here. But it says there that I need to verify the card to lift the limit. But I cannot verify the card! I thought we can make withdrawals without doing that. After following the entire process presented here, I found that this is default "Your Monthly Withdrawal Limit is: $0.00 USD per month". Is this something new? There is nothing Al-Rajhi can do, they only say that perhaps the debit card is not exactly recognized yet. Please help?

  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
Penny shared some interesting tips on his website here:

I called Public Bank (as suggested by you clever bloggers, thank you!) and found out that there must always be a balance of RM25 in the card. I loaded it with RM30 and that means that I can only charge a maximum of RM5 to my card. Any transaction with an amount that will eat into the balance of RM25 on the card will not go through. Since Paypal charges US$1.95 for the linking process, it is equivalent to RM6.80. I only have RM5 available in my credit card and thus, I was unable to complete the transaction required by Paypal. I made a run to top up the card and have now successfully linked the card to Paypal.

Wat is the difference between paypal personal and premium?
Can i use personal to receive money?
  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
Nicholas, you can use any PayPal account to receive and send money. Refer to the fees here to see which one suits you the most:

All thanks to the information here, I have successfully added the alrajhi debit card to my paypal account. The whole process is quite straight forward and without a glitch, as long as you follow the steps contained in this article.

In my opinion, Alrajhi debit card makes sense as it is internet friendly, has no annual fee or ATM withdrawal fee (provided you withdraw from the same bank).

    Regards

  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
PS, glad it helps. I have to agree that banks that puts customer's interest first will definitely enjoy a higher rate of adoption.

To ensure that the Debit card works, one must ensure that there's at least enough fund in the card when verifying the card with one's PayPal account.
  • yowchuan · 1 year ago
I was informed by Al Rajhi Bank that they do not allow their Debit ATM cards to be "Confirmed and Linked" to the PayPal account. This would mean you are not allowed to add funds into your PayPal account from your Al Rajhi account.

However, you can still use Al Rajhi's Debit ATM card for normal withdrawal (limited at USD500.00 per withdrawal).
  • Carmen.S · 1 year ago
    thank you so much!

Carmen, I am not sure if there's any age restrictions when applying for an Al Rajhi's Debit ATM card.

    Hi Yow Chuan,

I would like to express my gratitude to you for posting about Al-Rajhi Bank Debit Card. I applied for one last year but did not use it. Only recently I tried to use to withdraw funds from my paypal and faced difficulties. I tried to link but can't. I checked with Al-Rajhi's customer support and they said we can only use the card as a secondary card. However after a few tries and some fees deducted, I still couldn't do it.

Thank God for your latest comment which mentioned that Al-Rajhi Bank doesn't allow their cards to be linked and confirmed but we can use it for normal withdrawal. I transferred US50 last week and was able to withdraw it yesterday *jumping for joy* If not for your post and comments, I don't know how I could withdraw the money from paypal. I wish the staff at Al-Rajhi are more well-informed as many bloggers use their debit cards. Some don't even know what's paypal :(

Once again, many thanks for all your help :D
  • yowchuan · 11 months ago
Hi Barbara, glad you found the information useful.

I am sometimes quite surprised about the lack of information with the banking staffs when it comes to dealing with PayPal issues.

I guess we'll just have to live with it, until PayPal decides to open an outlet here!
  • khairul · 11 months ago
hi...good info as im using Al Rajhi debit card too...Is this also apply to Al Rajhi Charge Card?
  • yowchuan · 11 months ago
Khairul, is the Charge Card issued with the Visa logo? If it is, then it's most likely able to work with Paypal.
  • Steven · 11 months ago
    Hi YowChuan

    You mentioned

"I was informed by Al Rajhi Bank that they do not allow their Debit ATM cards to be "Confirmed and Linked" to the PayPal account. This would mean you are not allowed to add funds into your PayPal account from your Al Rajhi account.

However, you can still use Al Rajhi's Debit ATM card for normal withdrawal (limited at USD500.00 per withdrawal)."

I have applied for Al Rajhi Debit card today and when I tried to add the card to my Paypal I face the problem of "We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. If the problem persists, please try to enter a different credit card." too.

But during withdraw I still can see the new card listed as one of the available cards. You mean I can select to withdraw to the new Alradji debit card even if it is not "link and confirm"?

I have no problem with the previous Public Bank Debit card though..
  • yowchuan · 11 months ago
Steven, that's correct. You can still withdraw money using your Al-Rajhi Debit ATM card without confirming and linking it with your PayPal account. This also meant that you cannot inject funds into your PayPal account via the Al-Rajhi Debit ATM card.

I don't know why they did that, but if you are going to inject funds into PayPal, use another credit card instead.
  • shaffir · 10 months ago
Great info and thank a bunch bro. I did follow ur instruction and walla I made my 1st withdrawal.

Very easy dealing with al rajhi bank. Thanks to them we are able to work with paypal.
  • yowchuan · 10 months ago
No problem! Now, we are just waiting for PayPal to:

    1) allow withdrawal without limits and
    2) direct withdrawal to local banking accounts.

  • Samantha · 9 months ago
im not sure how this work but im going to try it this friday i guess, i hope your informations help me here. i was searching about this information for like 2days. i was like im gonna be so dead due to i cant withdraw money from this place. i would like to ask, if i apply this, this woudl be my first debit card here, so its like i can withdraw money from the bank straight too? if the currency in euro or usd means they will automatically change all to Malaysia currency?
  • yowchuan · 9 months ago
I am not sure about your nationality and what are the terms and conditions required by Al-Rajhi for non-Malaysian applicants. Basically, once you have their ATM Visa Debit Card, you can use it just like any other ATM card. On top of that, you can also use it like a charge card by ensuring you've enough credit in your account.

Yes, all currency is converted into Ringgit Malaysia, which reminds me that I need to ask them what kind of rate are they charging on the currency conversion. I've heard of stories where the bank charges extra when converting currency, without explicitly stating it in the terms and conditions. And when the account holders sue the bank, they actually got their money back!
  • umarnet · 9 months ago
sorry to repeat this question, i'm a student and i don't have credit card. do i need to have credit card first to make it as primary card or i can make al rajhi debit card straight away and add it?
  • yowchuan · 9 months ago
You shouldn't have problem applying for the Al-Rajhi ATM Debit Card since it works just like a normal ATM card. I do not think they will restrict you just because you're a student.

Nope, I do not think you can use Al Rajhi Debit ATM card as your primary card in PayPal. Somehow, PayPal won't recognize it. As mentioned above, you do not need to confirm and link your PayPal account if you just want to withdraw money from your PayPal account.
  • umarnet · 9 months ago
Ah, it work, thank you very much for the advices, keep up the good work

  • lili · 8 months ago
hi..u mentioned...do not need to confirm and link your PayPal account if you just want to withdraw money from your PayPal account. Does that mean i dont have to get my paypal account verified?..To get it verified i need to register my other credit card right?..

i only have mastercard...is it accepted...or only visa credit card
  • yowchuan · 8 months ago
Yup, no need to get it verified if all you want is to withdraw funds to your card.

If you want to top-up the credits in your PayPal account, then you will need to verify your card.

I don't think PayPal would have any problem with a MasterCard, but so far, I've only used Visa cards for my PayPal account.
  • Samantha · 8 months ago
hey there tomorrow im heading to bank to do all the procedure here.hope i can get the money.as for you right, how long it take for the money to transfer inside the card yea? the debit card is also a atm card right> means i can withdraw money and use it like credit card too right?
And i would like to ask,if i bring rm100 tomorrow for the procedure right, can i withdraw the balance out as well? means how much do i have to keep in the balance. by the way im a chinese malaysian. thanks for the help here yea.
  • Jobs · 7 months ago
i cant verify my paypal using al rajhi. any tips on this?
    no problem to withdraw though.
  • confused · 6 months ago
Okay, that was useful information.i think i might make a debit card as well.
But one thing to make sure:

1)So there is no age restriction in applying for al-rajhi debit card right?
2)Do u need a credit card(a primary card) just to withdraw money from paypal?
3)I'm confused when u sed that eventhough paypal dont recognize it(the al-rajhi debit card),we can still withdraw money from our paypal account and insert it in our debit card?

thx if u answered my questions.
  • yowchuan · 6 months ago
    Confused,

    1) I think not, as long as you have money, I think al-Rajhi would be glad to serve you even if you are 101 years old.

    2) No, strictly, credit card is not the only way to withdraw your Paypal funds. You can opt for Visa Debit cards.

    3) Yes, you do not need to verify your debit cards with Paypal to withdraw money to the card. You only need to verity your debit or credit cards when you want to top-up your Paypay fund. To rephrase, the verification process is only important when you want to deposit your money into Paypal. You do not need to go through the verification process if you are just withdrawing money to your Paypal.

Hope that clears your doubt, and please check with the Al-Rajhi branch to obtain the latest information on their policies.
  • jeanie · 6 months ago
i don have credit so how am i going to apply for paypal?
  • Proglamour · 6 months ago
    Hi Yowchuan,
Can i make a clear statement here? (i guess, hehehe).

    1) you need to register a credit/debit card with paypal as primary which is can be verify with paypal (its a must)
    2) register your ATM Visa debit card Al-Rajhi with paypal as secondary, no need to verify ( for withdrawal purposed-currently max withdraw USD500)

For step 1 - you can use any credit card but not all debit card accepted by paypal.
For step 2 - there is few debit card accepted by paypal not only al-rajhi such as standard chartered ATM Visa debit card < call the bank to verify.

Money/Credit Transfer from paypal to credit/debit card takes 5-7 days.

I think this is clear enough, am i right?
  • yowchuan · 6 months ago
Bingo dude! It's actually as simple as that ;-)
  • jj · 6 months ago
Thanks for sharing us your fantastic experience. It's really helped a lots!!!

from my understanding, Public Bank is available for us to withdraw the money from Paypal?
it takes about 5-7 working days to transfer the money into my debit/credit card account after I verified my account from paypal?

hope to get your reply A.S.A.P.

    email: jj.leehouse@gmail.com

    thanks you very much!
  • yowchuan · 6 months ago
Yup JJ, it normally takes about that length of time for the transfer of funds from PayPal to your card.
  • jj · 6 months ago

    Hi,
I was planning to open a paypal a/c and wanted to know more of the process that I found ur site. Very helpful and frankly with the guidance above I know what I shld do first!
I am about to receive a payment from a canadian base company based in US.I had probs when banking in the check due to the charges incurred which exceed more then the amount that I received that am returning back the check. Finally planning to open a paypal a/c as advised by the company. Now my doubt is I have to go thru all those procedure up there, will there be something there in my a/c ?When I ask advise from the bank ,even they dont know. There naturally will be some charges from canada as well as US right. How much do u think ?? if I go thru paypal. Is it worth while?Would like ur advise on this.
  • yowchuan · 5 months ago
The charges for using PayPal are pretty straightforward.

    1) When someone pays you, a transaction fee will be imposed by PayPal. The rate varies, but should be around 3-5% depending on your account type.

    2) When you withdraw your money into a valid credit/debit card, there will be another fee imposed by PayPal which is the USD5.00 withdrawal fee. Hence, I would suggest that you only withdraw when you have accumulated at least USD500.

    3) Finally, when the fund is transferred to your local credit/debit card, there'll be another fee, which is the forex exchange fee, which I think the card issuing bank would somehow incur additional fee above the normal forex rate during the transaction, which I find still reasonable. The only issue I have is that the exchange rates are not published by the card issuing bank.

MD, I think PayPal would be your best bet when it comes to international fund transfer. Of course they are other more cost-effective methods, but those would require that you have a substantial transaction volume on a regular basis.
  • rayvin · 4 months ago
    Hi there,

I have heard of cases whereby Paypal freezes your account if you have too much money in it. How true us this? I read this from www.paypalsucks.com
  • yowchuan · 3 months ago
    rayvin,

I think there has got to be some truth in that. Even with local banks, the consumers are bound to face with transactional issues. When a company grow this big, the number of complaints they get would also grow, and when it comes to money transactions, these problems are normally amplified, if not exaggerated in favour of the complainants.

To be safe, just try to keep your PayPal transactions for 'normal' transactions and if you are doing business using PayPal account, make sure all your paperwork and documents are always ready to proof your legitimacy.

There's not much you can do if they freeze your account except to follow their instructions to the letter. Remember when you signed up for their account, they did ask you to accept all the 'Terms and Conditions' in their usage policy.

I've not worked for PayPal nor represent PayPal, and my opinions are just based on my own experience.
  • Alwin · 4 months ago
    Hi there, yowchuan,

Do you have any related posts or links on how to use the Public Bank Visa Debit card for Paypal withdrawals? Would the process by similar to the al-Rajhi one?

What happens to the money on the card when it gets to Malaysia? Does it go into the bank account linked to the card?

    Thanks
  • yowchuan · 3 months ago
Alwin, though I have not tried withdrawing with a Public Bank Visa Debit card, I should say the procedures would not differ by much. The fund in PayPal will end up in your Public Bank Visa Debit card account (after deducting the PayPal transaction fee and exchange rate imposed).

Any Public Bank Visa Debit card users who can shed some light on this?
  • MD · 3 months ago
    Hi yowchuan,
    Thx for ur advise.
  • yowchuan · 3 months ago
    MD, No problem!
  • MD · 3 months ago
    Hi Yowchuan,
I had done everything in accordance to what is mentioned here. But to my surprise, I found out that my monthly withdrawal limit is set by default to $0.00!
I want to withdraw money from Paypal and did the link and confirm of my debit card .When I did that it was written that they are unable to verify my debit card!! and ask me to enter another card. I only have this card .Is there any other way to resolve the matter. In a dilemma.
  • yowchuan · 3 months ago
    MD, have you tried withdrawing?

For my case, I did not bother to 'Link and Confirm' my Debit cards, since I have no intention to add funds into my PayPal account. My experience also tells me that for most debit cards, you are not able to 'Link and Confirm' them.

So I don't recommend you to 'Link and Confirm' your debit card if you just want to withdraw funds out of your PayPal account.

Again, I would like to repeat: You don't have to 'Link and Confirm' your debit card if you just want to withdraw from your PayPal account. Just add the debit card into your account would do.

I have not used Public Bank's Electron Visa card, but I have heard from many friends who are using it and had no problem withdrawing.

Yess!!! Al Rahji is works! Now I can withdraw money from paypal. My friend told me that Public Bank Debit card also can withdraw. Other card, best refer to http://mymerchantonline.blogspot.com
